The Building Designer

Ken Bridges is a qualified Building Designer registered with Queensland Building Construction Commission (QBCC 1152837) and a current member of Building Design Queensland. To remain a member of BDQ professional development must be carried out annually to ensure a member stays current with industry and regulatory changes. As a past partner in Civil drafting Services Ken has extensive experience in civil engineering design for advice on house pads and benching.

As a designer it is important that the client’s vision is understood. This can more easily be achieved when the client has prepared sketches, scrapbooks, etc. Sometimes material types also have an impact such as the choice of a steel or timber roof beam for example. Also, whether a beam is hidden or visible. Other pros and cons will be discussed with the client to be sure they are making informed decisions.

Ken’s vision for a project is that it is what the client wants and extensions blend with the existing structure. All structural connections are hidden or minimized where possible.
