With our extensive past experience & eye for detail our designs try to blend with the existing structure. Note that your input is a must in this process – you are the ones who will live with the outcome, so it must meet your personal requirments.
Old Queenslander Homes
With expertise in classic Queenslander timber houses, we have successfully completed over 70 house lifts and/or relocations with extensive renovations by the end of 2024.
House Raising & Relocating
Partnering with local and regional experts, we offer comprehensive solutions for house raising and relocating. Whether it’s for improving structural integrity or creating new living spaces, we’ve got you covered.
New House Design
We have a more traditional design philosophy for new houses when we transfer your ideas into structural drawings. It is a two way process that converts your ideas into drawings. This usually takes a month or so, however, we have had some jobs take up to a year to reach client approval. It can be a steep learning curve when designing your new home or extension. We will always help you to understand the process and offer practical solutions to your concerns and questions.
Our Process
It is entirely up to the client in the amount of input they wish to provide through the whole process. We have found it’s a personal thing. Some clients want to offer imput from start to finish. Some feel a bit unsure of the process & hold off on most of their input until the first draft basic drawings are done.
Planning & Compliance
Where required we establish relationships with local Town Planners and Building Certifiers to help navigate the National Construction Code requirments that apply to your particular project. For example, for projects in some forested areas we check bushfire setback requirments to ensure compliance with Queensland Government regulations and Australian Standards.
About Ken Bridges
Ken Bridges is a qualified Building Designer registered with the Queensland Building Construction Commission (QBCC 1152837) and a current member of Building Design Queensland. With extensive experience in surveying and civil engineering design, Ken offers valuable advice throughout the design process. Some sites require ground levels to be taken to make sure the design will suit the site.
Ken’s vision for every project is to deliver what the client truly wants, ensuring extensions blend perfectly with existing structures while minimizing visible structural connections.
Keeping up to date with building trends, construction techniques, rule compliance are some of the compulsory requirements of maintaining membership of Building Design Queensland.
